CHINESE ASTROLOGICAL SYSTEM
The art and practice of Chinese Astrology or Ming Shu, is beleived to date from the year 2637 BC, when the famous Yellow emperor, Huang Ti, first introduced a calendar based on the cycles of the moon. According to the Chinese system, the exact lunar year is determined by the T'ai sui , and was thought by the Chinese ancients to be an imaginary planet that travels through the heavens in a reverse course to the planet Jupiter.
Unlike the twelve-month cycle of Western astrology, the Chinese year cycle takes twelve years to complete. each year is govered by an animal sign, which exerts a profound influence over the personality of an individual born in that year, much in the same way that Western personalities are thought to be governed by their zodiac sign. But in the chinese sytem, each lunar year is ot only ruled by an animal but also by one of the five elements, exressed either is a positive(Yang) or a negative(Ying) manifestation. The five elements are metal, water, wood, fire and earth.
